Sadat’s room soon became a gathering place for many of the junior officers. They were all young men, most in their teens, and many were away from home for the first time. They were bored and restless. Sadat soon seized on that opportunity—an opportunity that his hero, Atatürk, had also utilized. Sadat used those gatherings in his room to spark the revolution he felt was needed in Egypt.
